Based in Keswick, North Lakes Stained Glass was established in 2021 by Kate Lavender. Kate has been designing and creating stained glass pieces using both the traditional Tiffany foiling and lead light techniques for over 30 years, but only decided to formalise her business after moving to the Lake District from Sheffield in 2019 and being inspired by the outdoor environment, and how emotive the changing seasons and light here in Cumbria can be.
Through the combination of unique textured, opalescent, translucent and reclaimed glass, her pieces aim to recreate this beauty and recapture memories of the lakes for customers. Or with more contemporary designs, simply allow everyone to be able to appreciate the 'art of light through glass' in their own homes, be that as small ornaments and hangings through to larger windows and installations.
As well as exhibiting her work at The Makers Mill creative space in Keswick, at various artisan events across Cumbria and in her online shop, Kate welcomes bespoke commissions nationally and restoration work within the North of England.
