Factory: Festival for Creative Arts

17th & 18th August 2024

at the old Cumberland Pencil factory Keswick

Factory Festival of Creative Arts, now in its third year, brings together over 30 local artists, makers and musicians all under one roof.

These include painters, textile and glass artists, ceramicists, jewellers, photographers and many more.

As well as offering a range of creative workshops, the best local music talent will be also playing throughout the weekend.

Refreshments are kindly being provided by Moon and Sixpence Coffee.

Free entry and dogs welcome.

Watercolour workshop

An Introduction to Watercolour

Saturday 17 August, 10.30am-11.30am

Whether you're a complete beginner or looking to brush up on your skills, this workshop is perfect for you. Our experienced instructor will guide you through different techniques and help you unleash your artistic side. Don't worry about bringing any supplies - everything you need will be provided. Get ready to dive into the wonderful world of watercolours and create your own masterpiece!

Linocut Workshop

Linocut Printing Taster Course

Saturday 17 August, 12pm-1pm

Our taster workshop is suitable for beginners, where you can work under Emily's expert tuition to create a small artwork to take home. Come to the Home of the Pencil at the Keswick Pencil Factory to take part in the creative arts festival with free live music.

We'll be carving, rolling and printing by hand using fast drying water-based inks. All artistic abilities are welcome, even people who say they cannot draw can create delightful little prints.

If you wear reading glasses, please bring them. Suitable for adults and children over 8.

Needlefelting

An Introduction to Needle Felting

Sunday 18 August, 10am-12pm

Learn the basics of needle felting and about the varieties of wool available in the UK. Take away your own unique creation and the wherewithal to complete anything you have not finished.

Please bring ideas or pictures for inspiration but nothing too complicated.

Drawing Workshop

Drawing for Doubters

Sunday 18 August, 1pm-2pm

Don't doubt yourself, if you think you can't draw or want to try alternative techniques to loosen up your style, this is the course for you.

Spend an enjoyable hour at The Home of the Pencil, during the FACTORY Creative Arts Festival with Live music a free event all weekend. You will find that if you can see a still life arrangement, you can draw it. Finding your own personal mark-making along the way. Some dry media will be provided -pencils, pastels, crayons and graphite, bring your own if you prefer.

Please bring a sketchbook for your still-life sketch if you wish, but A4 cartridge paper will also be provided for all the initial exercises.
