Barbara Hitch

Most of my work is inspired by the surrounding lakes and fells, and the varied weather patterns and ever changing light. I love the contrasts between the sharp rocky edges of the mountains and the moorland and forests between them. I work in oils, acrylics, and watercolours, and particularly enjoy the flow and blending and unpredictability of watercolour.

My style is fairly loose as I try to capture the atmosphere around my subject, although I also enjoy the occasional foray into a more abstract composition.
