Art by BeaP - Bev Preston
I love embracing the life of a professional artist, telling stories bigger than ourselves. Created to be creative, every brushstroke grows my talent. As I work to understand the process of wonderworks that unfold before me, my heArt skips a BeaP as the paint lands in that perfect place, and I yearn for that undo button when it doesn’t. My goal is to give you a glimpse of the Creators point of view, daring to keep record of our dreams and imaginings, I transfer from the pallet, one heArt-BeaP at a time, knowing where my help comes from, and receiving much more than I could ever ask for.
Born Beverley Adam, I sold my first sketch of a horse as a 10 year old for 20c. Unknowingly my first commissions were in my teens, often sketching caricature portraits of my teachers while in class.
I was introduced to oils at 18 and took to art as my main hobby, studying it at uni 20 years later. I studied Teaching at the University of South Africa majoring in Art, Maths, and English, teaching briefly at schools, then tutored privately and painted, and turned full time Artist in 2013.
And then in 2016 I met and married James Preston and my art career took wings. While we were sitting in a branding agent's office, Jim pointed out that my new initials spelled BeaP and at that very moment right outside, a passing Beetle car BeaPed twice. A sign! Instantly Bev became BeaP.
So for the first time as BeaP, in 2017, we travelled South Africa with a growing exhibition beginning with South Africa's Rand Show, travelling through this vast country to the many Local and National Art festivals - Innibos, Aardklop, Cherry festival, Bloem Show, Parys and more, selling Art by BeaP to customers all over the world, catapulting BeaP paintings onto every continent.
Born and raised at the foot of Africa, but of British descent, Jim and I decided to move to the UK in 2022, where I began joined Coastal Currents Open studios in Hastings, then studying the Mastery Programme with the Milan Art Institute, breaking new grounds and finding a new voice, we recently moved to Cumbria where my open studio is open once again.
I am BeaP. I am an Art Tutor and a full-time professional artist selling my works across the globe.
The world is my lobster.
