Sally Walker
My passion lies in creating art inspired by the wild beauty of nature and the changing seasons.
Whether at home in rural Cumbria, on campervan adventures, or during occasional travels further afield, I find endless inspiration in light, colour, landscape and seascape. My work is intuitive and rooted in a deep appreciation for the natural world.
I began painting in my early twenties, but life naturally took me in other directions — raising a family, working, and moving through the many ups and downs along the way. It wasn’t until decades later, as I searched for ways to manage what was eventually diagnosed as a chronic medical condition, that I began painting again.
Watercolour is my chosen medium — I’m endlessly drawn to its fluidity, flexibility and the way pigments interact in unexpected and beautiful ways to create magical and atmospheric effects. I use professional-grade paints and 100% cotton archival-quality paper.
For me, painting is a kind of therapy, a deeply calming and joyful process. Each piece takes time and I’ve learned the best stages to leave my little artworks to dry so I can pick them up again when time, energy and symptoms allow. It makes it even more special when I when I complete a painting that feels just right.
I’m always delighted when someone connects with my work — our experience of art is so personal, and it means a lot to know a piece has found its home.
