I find it really difficult to write a statement about what I do – I just love making art.

As an artist living and working in the Eden Valley I cannot help but be inspired by the beauty of the landscape, and by the human influences on it.

However, I am not interested in making exact representations of figures or landscapes, but am always seeking to interpret the essence or mood of my subjects – whether a whole landscape, or just a small part that I have noticed – maybe the colours or the marks made by man or nature.

I suppose that I am interested in creating images which encourage others to question what they see, or to look more closely at the beauty we often take for granted in our busy lives.
