Louise started painting with oils five years ago, following a successful career as a graphic designer and business owner in the North East. Taking a break from the business to have children, she decided to change direction and move from working on a screen to enjoying the freedom that paint allows, expressively capturing the landscapes around.
Passionate about the texture and layering that oils enable, Louise enjoys painting landscapes, particularly big skies, mountains and water. As she also lives in the Lake District, much of her work is influenced by this scenery.
She is keen on capturing the changing nature of the weather on the landscape, whether it is catching the light and shadows on a mountainside, or the little glimpse of sunlight through the clouds. Combining a love of the outdoors with her passion for painting, Louise often sits in a kayak in the middle of a lake to capture the sunset and shadows reflecting in the water, or walks to the top of the fells to capture the big skies and views.
