Kay Swaine
I'm a self taught textile artist, I've made textiles all my life and have a passion and commitment to hand stitching or 'Slow Stitching'. The pandemic lockdown gave me an opportunity to develop my practice and, more importantly, to maintain and improve my well-being.
I use cotton yarn and fabric, making wall- hangings, pictures and fabric books, my pieces are sourced using charity shop finds, remnants, and old clothing. I design and make patchwork, needlepoint and embroidery which I incorporate into contemporary, vintage and folk art pieces.
I moved to Cumbria five years ago from Hebden Bridge where I held exhibitions and workshops and took part in group exhibitions and local Open Studio Events. It's taken me a while to find my feet following the move but feel that being a member of EVAN will help me to expand and develop my practice.
