Helen Thornley
Helen produces wheel-thrown pottery in the Eden Valley in Cumbria. She works out of her home studio, and also a day a week at Brougham Hall. She enjoys making both practical, useful items in stoneware as well as decorative, raku pieces. She particularly values the tactile nature of a finished pot, and aims to make pieces which are as pleasing to the hand as to the eye.
As a swimmer and walker, Helen gets much of her inspiration from being in or around Ullswater. She is also developing a separate range in black and white stoneware, inspired by her frequent visits to the Isle of Mull.
