Emma Wigginton

I love to create intricate detailed surfaces and structures with free machine embroidery. I work from what I see around me in my life and in nature, feeling my way slowly into each piece, fabricating pictures, brooches, books and more - I especially relish the technical challenge of creating 3D pieces.

A degree in Contemporary Applied Arts prepared me well for the artist’s life; sitting in my studio admiring the view, and drinking tea! I love getting messy in a sketchbook and playing with my rather large stash of pre-loved fabrics. My needlefelting machine which ‘meshes’ fabrics into wonderful surfaces for stitch is a great boon in my creative process.
