Hello! My name is Emma and together with my rather elderly but wonderful sewing machine, a needlefelting machine (embellisher) and a large stash of upcycled fabric, I create art! A Contemporary Applied Arts degree and lots of exploring and experimenting since, means I now spend my days drawing and stitching, inspired by everything I around me: landscape, plants, seedheads, the sea, plus aspects and experiences of life.
My embellisher helps create wonderful surfaces, ‘meshing’ a wide range of fabrics, onto which I use free motion stitching to add line, colour and texture. I make wallhangings, pictures, brooches, books and intricate conceptual 3D pieces.
In 2020 I set up my YouTube channel: Stitch and Create, where I post weekly in-studio videos of my work and free tutorials. I am currently creating a growing collection of online textile/machine embroidery Workshops. I also have a 45 minute talk/film of my studio/work available for groups.
