I have always sought out wilderness and nature in the raw. Through my art, I have begun to develop a visual language that explores the tension between natural elements. I am attracted to the fells and the salt marshes, the mountains and the estuaries and I begin my process there; absorbing the atmosphere and recording colours, sounds and shapes. In the studio I work quickly and intuitively with wet and dry media. I like to push the paint around with my hands, layering textures and colours to impart energy, expression and gesture to the piece while always trying to retain a sense of place.
