Ann McChesney

Ann initially studied at the Central School of Art & Design in London, and later at Lancaster University where she gained a First Class Honours Degree in Visual Arts. Her professional career in the Arts has previously involved arts administration - including being involved with the Green Door Artists' Group in Kendal as studio member and Exhibitions Organiser, and subsequently working for Highlights Rural Touring Scheme for 9 years as the Craft Tour Project Officer touring the work of various makers in Cumbria, Durham and Northumberland. She now works as a gardener and painter with a view to developing her painting practice from her studio in Appleby.

I am interested in the emotional response to the Cumbrian landscape and how colour has the ability to communicate and provoke deep emotional reactions in the viewer of an image. My work reflects my own response.
